Baker Creek Preserve in Knoxville TN had it all! From huge paved MTB pump tracks to progressively build jump trails, there is something here for everyone. If you are in the area or passing through, I would highly recommend checking this place out!
Trail Details:
We were on our way to Bentonville AK when a buddy of mine Steve @BentSpokesMTB suggested we check out Baker Creek and I’m glad we did. This mountain bike park had a beginner and intermediate pumptrack, a skills park, an expert level jumpline (including a wicked whale tail), and progressive MTB jump trails.
After sessioning the pump track for a while, Dan and I decided to hit the trails. Barn Burner, their intermediate jumpline was ok, but the highlight was Cruze Valley and Devils Racetrack. Even though Cruze Valley was a beginner line, it was fast and had several doubles and optional features making it ideal for riders of all skill levels. Devils Racetrack was amazing! It started with a cool rock kicker into a wall and was full of big tables, so much fun! The climb to the top was easy and graded very well.
We decided to finish the day back at the pump track to check out the expert jump line which was intense. We were not able to complete the full line (which had 6 gaped jumps) but we did manage to get the first 3 which included an off camber whale tail. Everything was built to speed and well maintained making it easy to trust the jumps, as long as you had the confidence/skills to pull it off.
We ended our day at Bear Paw Bikes, which was a bike shop located off the parking lot, and enjoyed a delicious lunch at 71 South, a restaurant located right above the shop. For more details and links see below.
