The Salomon Advanced Skin 12 is a good hydration pack that will work well for most runners unless you’re planning to use it with a bladder.
Trail running is my passion and I needed a hydration vest that could accommodate a bladder since most of my runs are self-supported. I’ve heard a lot of great things about the Salomon Advanced Skin 12, so when it came time to upgrade old Nathan vest I decided to see what all the hype was about.
While I can see why so many folks love this pack, it did not work well for me. I found several significant issues with the bladder, and the quick fit system took me a while to get used to.
My opinion of this pack comes down to how you plan on using it. If you primarily use soft flasks when you run, this will be a great durable vest! The comfort and versatility is fantastic, and once you get that fit dialed in, it feels pretty amazing to run in. But if you want a hydration vest that can be used with a bladder, and/or you have fumble fingers like me, I would probably find something else.
